A bit about the weather
This Montane Sub-Region area is renown
for its dry weather, almost semi-arid.
In fact the
Kootenay Indians have used this area for the last few centuries
as their wintering grounds. They came here since the wildlife,
(the moose, elk, and deer), also wintered here.
This
area receives an average of 15 cm (6 inches) of rain annually.
In year 2000, there was only half that
amount of rain.
Compared to other areas of the Rockies where
there is double that amount, we are well situated for our
helicopter tours and activities.
